Can You Guess the Book from the Emojis? (Round III)

Happy Friday, everyone!

As you can probably tell from the title, I’ve decided to return to my roots with an old favorite today! The emoji quizzes are back!

(In other words, I have run out of inspiration for non-elaborate creative posts, so I’ve decided to exploit my past self’s ideas instead ๐Ÿ™ƒ)

In case you are unfamiliar with this format, the rules are very simple:

1) I have represented the plot of several well-known pieces of literature using only emojis. Your job is to spam my comment section and try to guess which book I meant!

2) Three points go to whoever guesses the book correctly first. One point goes to everyone else who guesses the book correctly afterwards.

3) Answers will be revealed a week from now. Whoever has the most points wins a ton of bookish honor!!! (Plus, if they wish, they get to pick a book that I will then HAVE TO read and review. At some point… ๐Ÿ˜)

I hope that has sufficiently cleared things up! However, if you’re still confused and would like a bit more insight into how my brain works, you can always check out the previous posts in this series:

(Oh, and also: In my experience, WordPress is always particularly kind regarding anything emoji-related ๐Ÿ™„ So if you’re reading this in the reader and the emojis aren’t showing up, you might have to come visit my blog directly…)

Anyway, I hope you’ve got incentive enough to give this a try! As always, I haven’t exactly made things easy for you – **cackles evilly** – but, I mean, where’s the fun if things aren’t a little hard? Let’s get into the books!

So yeah, that was it for today! Did you recognize any of these books? Bring on your guesses in the comments!

Also, if you hate me too much for overtaxing your brain like this, feel free to retaliate with emoji quizzes of your own ๐Ÿ˜ I am probably not most certainly up for the challenge!

[Update: The answers are now up, so if you want, you can view them here!]

Heehee, they’re not ๐Ÿ˜œ But some of them might be! I’m just not saying how many to give other people a chance to catch up with your insane guessing skills ๐Ÿ˜„ But thanks for participating, Rachel – I hope you had fun despite the exhausted brain cells! ๐Ÿ’™

I very much appreciate your appreciation of the time it took me to select and type out all of the emojis ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜‡ Seriously, these posts always take FOREVER!! ๐Ÿคฃ

I’m very sorry for all the confusion I’ve caused your poor brain, though… Hopefully, a few things will at least make sense once the answers are revealed! But until then, I guess you’re stuck wondering ๐Ÿ˜

I have no idea haha I am so impressed you ever have the energy to search through emojis and get all this done so far, I only have a guess for two books:

    Book 6: Animal Farm
Book 9: Project Hail Mary. While I don’t remember reading spiders being involved, the space emojis made me think of this because every spider emoji just made me think Spider-Man comics and I highly doubt you picked one of those so, Project Hail Mary haha

  3. Line @First Line Reader says:

I’m spending way too much time on this considering I could be watching Stranger Things 4 ๐Ÿ˜‚ Also considering that I think we’ve established that I don’t remember important plot points in books ๐Ÿ˜… Still, I’m also so stubborn about guessing these that I’m not looking at other people’s answers before having made my own. And they are:
Book 4: …Is that City of Bones? It was the brief appearance of vampires combined with rats and possibly someone being turned into a rat. That can’t happen in more than one book.
Book 5: The Way of Kings – I will not be surprised if you tell me I’m wrong about this one. I’m just seeing bridges, deserts (that could be plains), fighting and storms.
Book 7: The Bear and the Nightingale – It’s definitely Winternight and I’m pretty confident you went with the first one. This was the only one I got pretty quickly so I feel very on brand ๐Ÿ˜

Have I read anything else? I was looking for a Hobb book but I don’t think it’s there. However, I still want to give my thoughts on the some of the others since I managed to guess one I hadn’t read the last time ๐Ÿ˜
Book 2: So much murder. I think you’ve mentioned A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder a few times so that’s what I’m thinking of.
Book 3: There are clearly too many animals in that one for me to have read it ๐Ÿ˜‚ And both the Mexican and Japanese flags? I’m so confused.
Book 6: I’m 100% sure I’ve never read a book with that many pigs in it…
Book 10: That looks Shakesperean. And I think the only one I’ve read with a black character is Othello.

It’s going to be a very long week waiting for these answers!

Wow, I greatly admire your dedication ๐Ÿ˜‚ Particularly since my own plans to plan one lesson for every Stranger Things 4 episode I get to watch have already gone out the window… I’ve just finished watching Chapter 2 and still only have one lesson ready ๐Ÿ™ˆ Why do these episodes always end in such interesting cliffhangers?? ๐Ÿ˜…
But yeah, I suppose you’ll just have to wait that week out regarding those answers ๐Ÿ˜ I mean, you have Stranger Things as a distraction, so you should be fine! And I obviously can’t tell you if you’ve read anything else, but maybe it’ll make you feel better if I tell you that I know for a fact that you haven’t read all of these this time… So your chances of avoiding another Christmas Carol situation are actually quite good! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Line @First Line Reader says:

It was a productive plan you had there, but there’s just something very bingeable about Stranger Things. I wouldn’t say I ever binge series but Stranger Things is the exception. Everytime a new season is released it’s like my brain thinks something bad is going to happen if I haven’t watched it all within 24 hours ๐Ÿ˜… So it’s a bit optimistic to assume these seven episodes are going to last a week, but I’ll just have to find something else that can distract me from this excitement ๐Ÿ˜„

        • abookowlscorner says:

Unfortunately, my brain seems to be thinking along those same lines – I stayed up way too late last night to make it all the way to Chapter 4 ๐Ÿ˜… And to at least get one other lesson in to relieve myself of some of the guilt… So I’m actually kind of relieved there are only seven episodes out or my sleep schedule and next week’s preparation would be in severe jeopardy! ๐Ÿคฃ

  4. Maria @ The Character Study says:

I really admire the time it must’ve taken to come up with all of that, but unfortunately my brain simply lacks the braincells necessary to try to guess ๐Ÿ˜‚ My only thoughts are that book 6 must be Animal Farm and that book 10 is definitely Shakespeare, probably Othello?

Haha, you’ll just have to wait and see! But I very much appreciate you forcing your brain to give this a try, despite the reluctant braincells! ๐Ÿ˜‚ If it’s any consolation, my siblings, some of my friends, and I have an entire WhatsApp group dedicated to this kind of thing, and my brain is always horribly overwhelmed by the stories everyone else posts in the group, too… ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ
